Cyprus' effort to highlight its role in Southeast Mediterranean region, Defence Minister says

Cyprus is constantly trying to highlight the role it can play in the area of Southeast Mediterranean, Defense Minister Savvas Angelides said on Monday in his statements following today’s exercise of the National Guard carried out in collaboration with the French aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle.

Cypriot Minister said that more joint exercises between Cyprus and France would be taking place in the future relating to air defense, aviation and navy aiming to upgrade the National Guard.

He said that today’s first phase of the joint exercise with France aimed at attacking virtual targets by activating Cyprus’ air defence system.
