Troodos – Cyprus Declaration presents opportunities for young people to stay in their mountain villages,  Commissioner for Mountain Areas Kostas Champiaouris has noted during the presentation of the Declaration at Omodos village, in the context of the European Conference on Mountain Areas of Large Mediterranean Islands.

According to an official press release, the Declaration represents a working document to guide further debate, policy and action relating to challenges and opportunities faced by the Mediterranean mountain islands.

Presenting the Troodos – Cyprus Declaration, Dominique Barjolle, of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology said the Conference delegates agreed on the following principles for action in the European-Mediterranean mountain areas:

1. The need for multi-scale, multi-stakeholder and multi-institutional consultation<
