FM: The current situation on the island cannot constitute a national compromise

The current situation on the island cannot constitute a national compromise, said on Sunday Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides.

Speaking during the memorial service of the EOKA Liberation struggle hero and second in command to General Griva Dhigeni, Gregoris Afxentiou, at Polemidia in Limassol, Christodoulides paid tribute to all those who defended the honour and integrity of Cyprus.

Sixty-three years after Afxentiou’s sacrifice, he said, we reflect on our responsibilities and pledge that we continue the struggle to safeguard the national dignity and rights of our people which are brutally desecrated by the violence and arrogance of the Turkish occupation.
