Cyprus retail trade drops in March amid measures to control COVID-19
Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade decreased by 1.4% in March 2020 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 109.6 units (base 2015=100), on the basis of provisional estimates by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
It is noted that in March the Republic of Cyprus introduced COVID-19 containment measures.
However, for the period January-March 2020, the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 4.7% compared to the same period of 2019.
On the basis of the same estimates, in March 2020, the Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade decreased by 2.3% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 106.5 units (base 2015=100).
For the period January-March 2020, the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period of 2019.
