Ninety-eight pedestrians and drivers violate restrictions to contain COVID-19
Police in Cyprus have booked 98 pedestrians and drivers for violations of the restrictions to contain COVID-19.
The violations took place from 1800 yesterday until 0600 today and a total of 4.008 spot checks have taken place.
A police Spokesman told CNA that in Nicosia, there were 1.401 spot checks and 19 violations, in Limassol 1.200 checks and 25 violations, in Lanaca 524 checks and five violations and in Paphos 190 checks and 16 violations. In Famagusta, there were 201 spot checks and nine violations and in Morphou region 167 checks and one violation.
Out of 272 spot-checks the traffic police reported 13 violations, while the emergency response unit made no reports out of 53 checks it conducted. There were also 989 checks in premises but no reports were made.
