Turkey expected to take steps towards respecting sovereign rights and international law, diplomatic source tells CNA

Cyprus and other countries from the region expect Turkey to take concrete steps towards respecting their sovereign rights, as well as international law, Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concluded on Monday, during a teleconference where they discussed developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In light of Ankara’s reaction to a Joint Declaration issued by the five Foreign Ministers, Nicosia reiterates its proposal to Turkey to negotiate and delineate their maritime zones west and north of Cyprus or take their dispute to the International Court of Justice, in The Hague.

A diplomatic source told CNA that the Joint Declaration of the five Foreign Ministers speaks for itself.
