President responds positively to Akinci request for help in extinguishing a fire in occupied areas
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiades has responded positively to a request submitted by the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci for help in extinguishing a fire broke out in the occupied areas of Cyprus.
Government Spokesman Kyriakos Koushos said in a written statement that the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis received a phone call this afternoon from the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci who requested the assistance of the government with the dispatch of firefighting aircrafts for extinguishing the fire occurred in the district of Kyrenia.
Koushos said the President had responded positively to the request and given relevant instructions noting that three firefighting aircrafts from the Forestry Department and a Police helicopter have already been dispatched to extinguish the fire.
