US criticises Turkey's stance in the Greek EEZ
While the United States generally does not take a position on other states’ maritime boundary disputes, it considers Turkey’s actions unhelpful and provocative, a State Department Spokesperson said commenting on Turkey`s activities with Libya which question part of the Greek Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The Spokesperson noted, responding to a question by Hellas Journal, that "as a matter of longstanding policy, we encourage states to resolve their disputes peacefully in accordance with international law. Pending the delimitation of unresolved maritime boundaries, we call on all sides to exercise self-restraint and to make every effort not to jeopardize or hamper the reaching of a final maritime boundary agreement.
