Cyprus Justice Minister says social alliance necessary to tackle road traffic accidents

Justice and Public Order Minister Emily Yiolitis has said that in order to tackle road traffic accidents a social alliance needs to be formed. She referred to the fact that 23 people have lost their lives in Cyprus since the beginning of this year in road traffic accidents and urged Parliament to vote bills before it, which provide for stricter penalties.

Yiolitis was speaking to the press on Friday following a meeting she had with Chief of Police Stelios Papatheodorou and the head of Traffic Police Department Yiannakis Georgiou and spoke of a “constructive discussion” as regards the common effort to improve road safety and avoid further road traffic accidents.
