Cyprus Parliament unanimously approves resolution condemning Hagia Sophia conversion to a mosque
Cyprus’ House of Representatives plenary unanimously approved on Friday a resolution condemning the intention of the Turkish government to convert Hagia Sophia to a mosque.
All 51 present MPs voted in favour of the resolution.
“Hagia Sophia remains throughout the years an ecumenical symbol of religious worship and a monument of world cultural heritage belonging to all humanity and constitutes an excellent example of innovative architectural design and structural perfection, as well as a precious historical monument which reflects Constantinople’s rich and long history,” the resolution reads.
