Cyprus President - Famagusta Municipal delegation discuss Varosha situation
Cyprus’ President Nicos Anastasiades has briefed the Mayor and the members of the Municipal Council of Famagusta Municipality on the issue of Turkish occupied Famagusta, the attempted Turkish plans for opening and settling its fenced-off part, known as Varosha and government actions to deter them, during their meeting held on Thursday at the Presidential Palace.
According to a press release issued here today by the Presidency, in his statements to the press, the Government Spokesperson Kyriacos Koushos stated that during the meeting the President of the Republic also informed them about the issues he raised about Famagusta at the last European Council, issues he raised in his last meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as in his meeting with French President Emanuel Macron.
He also recalled that the issue of Famagusta had been raised by Forei
