Foreign Ministry welcomes the unanimous renewal of UNFICYP mandate
Cyprus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the unanimous renewal of the mandate of UNFICYP by the UN Security Council until 31 January 2021.
According to a press release issued here Tuesday by the Ministry, the resolution provides for the submission of the Secretary General`s Report on Mission of Good Offices by 10 January 2021.
The Ministry notes with satisfaction the fact that the Resolution reaffirms all the relevant Security Council resolutions on Cyprus as well as the basis for a solution to the Cyprus problem both explicitly and by reference to the important Resolution 1251 which refers to one State with a single sovereignty, a single citizenship and a single international personality on the basis of a bicommunal, bizonal federation, with political equality as defined in the UN resolutions.
