The appeasement of Turkey has failed, Cyprus President told EUCO

The assessment that "the appeasement of Turkey has failed" and it`s time "to pass from statements of solidarity into action" was conveyed to his counterparts at the European Council by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades during his intervention at the Summit that started today in Brussels,  Government Spokesperson Kyriacos Koushos has said. The members of the European Council agreed on an extraordinary meeting on Turkey in September following a proposal by President Charles Michel.

More specifically, in his written statement, the Koushos said that "today`s European Council Summit in Brussels began with interventions by the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiadis and the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who referred to the illegal actions threats from Turkey, as well as the attitude of the European Union.
