Cyprus President condemns conversion of Chora Church into a mosque
President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades condemned on Friday the conversion into a mosque of the Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora, a byzantine church in Istanbul which operates as a museum.
“We strongly condemn the decision of the Turkish government to convert the Chora Church into a mosque. This is another act of disrespect on behalf of Turkey vis-Ã -vis world cultural heritage,” the President wrote in a message, posted in his account on Twitter.
