Cyprus ready to place ports, airports, military airbase at the disposal of UNIFIL for assistance in Lebanon

Cyprus stands ready to do its utmost and actively support international efforts designed to alleviate the immense grief and suffering of the Lebanese people, President Nicos Anastasiades said, during his intervention  at the international videoconference of donors organized by the UN and the French President.

 To this end, the President said, and in response to President Macron’s call, the Cypriot Government will be offering:
 
Financial assistance amounting to five million Euro and will stand ready to place the international airports of Larnaca and Paphos and the “Andreas Papandreou” military airbase, as well as the ports of Limassol and Larnaca, all in close geographic proximity to Lebanon, at the disposal of UNIFIL, the United Nations and of the international community in general, for any humanitarian and other assistance deemed necessary.
