Turnover for Transport in Cyprus declined by an annual 36.5% in Q2 due to Covid-19 pandemic

Turnover Value Index for Transport and Storage recorded a steep decline amounting to 36.5% in the second quarter of 2020, with air transport receiving the heaviest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
 
According to data released on Thursday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat), the index amounted to 79.7 units in June compared with 126.5 in the respective period of 2019. Compared with the previous month of 2020, the index marked an increase of 8% reflecting the improvement due to the lifting of containment measures.

For the period of January-June 2020, the Turnover Value Index of Transport and Storage declined by 20.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2019, Cystat added.
 
Air transport received the heaviest blow due to travel bans that were in place in the second quarter of 2020, with the index plunging by 94.4% year on year. When
