Cypriot Ministers warn of dangers that Turkey’s expansionism poses in the region
Minister of Finance Constantinos Petrides referred on Sunday to the new challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean as well as Turkey’s expansionist stance, noting that the Republic of Cyprus' goal is to address those challenges and reunite the island.
In a speech at a national memorial service in Geri, Nicosia, the Minister said that “we must be fully aware of the challenges we face", pointing out that there are new challenges and significant changes in Cyprus’ neighborhood.
He referred to Turkey’s new expansionist stance saying that the country not only continues to occupy half of Cyprus` territory but also adopts and implements a new doctrine of Neo-Ottomanism.
