Cyprus sends team to Lebanon to discuss increased migrant influxes
The Cyprus government will send a team to Lebanon in the next hours to discuss the increased migrant influxes from the neighboring country, Interior Minister Nicos Nouris has announced.
Speaking to the press after a meeting on Monday at the Justice Ministry with Ministers of Justice, Defence and Foreign Affairs, the National Guard, the Police Force and the Asylum Services of the Republic, the Minister said that the team could be ready to visit Beirut in the next 48 hours and would discuss ways to stop the flow in cooperation and collaboration with the Lebanese authorities.
He also announced that the authorities in Cyprus will brief thoroughly the European Union on the matter and will ask for its assistance.
