Energy provides a catalyst for cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Fannon says

US Assistant Secretary for the bureau of energy resources of the US Department of State, Francis Fannon underlined that the development of energy in the Eastern Mediterranean provides a catalyst for cooperation.

Speaking at the virtual event “The New York-East Med Summit: A sea of conflict or a sea of opportunities”, organized by Economist, Fannon expressed US’s significant commitment to the energy development in the region, both in bilateral relationships with Greece and in multilateral alliances.

Fannon referred to the importance of the “3+1” cooperation (Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and the United Sates), the continuing and strengthening of which was reaffirmed in the joint statement, released by Greece and the US, during Mike Pompeo’s recent visit to Greece.
