German Government Spokesman, Stephen Zeibert, said on Friday that they continue to follow with particular attention the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, adding that de-escalation and dialogue are needed right now, with a view to solve the disputed issues.

We are making a great effort towards this end, noted Zeibert, who was invited by CNA to express the German government`s position about possible EU sanctions on Turkey for its activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Our position is that the relation of Turkey with the EU members is an isssue to be discussed during the Special European Council, Zeibert said, adding that he cannot prejudge the results  of the Summit.
