Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, expressed on Wednesday his country`s support to Cyprus` demand for EU sanctions against Turkey.

In statements in Nicosia, after talks he held with his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, Dendias said that "Greece continues to firmly support Cyprus` demand to have new individuals and entities, that are engaged in the ongoing illegal activities of Turkey in the Cypriot EEZ, added in the European list of sanctions."

He noted that this is the agreed European framework, adding that at the same time "maintaining the prospect of imposing financial measures against Turkey remains necessary, in case the Turkish illegal behaviour continues.
