President Michel suggests idea of a multiratelal conference on Eastern Mediterranean
A "multilateral conference" to resolve the problems in the Eastern Mediterranean, but also a "carrot and whip policy" for Turkey are proposed by the President of the European Council Charles Michel, who will visit Greece, Cyprus and Malta in a few days.
More specifically, in an interview with the German, French, Belgian News Agencies, Ansa, and Reuters, the President of the European Council stated that "an escalation is under way, with more and more incidents and military means in the region and this must to stop".
"A multilateral conference could, firstly, help to de-escalate the situation and, secondly, find solutions to the many issues on which we disagree," he said, presenting an idea he shared with members of the European Council.
