Borrell: Cyprus settlement talks important to EU and should start as soon as possible
The relaunch of the Cyprus settlement talks is important to the EU and should start as soon as possible, EU High Representative on Foreign Policy Josep Borrell said on Monday following the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, while presenting to the Press the decisions of the EU27 Ministers.
More specifically HRVP Borrell said that “on Varosha and the most recent Navtex issued by Turkey, we have had a discussion and listening from our colleagues from Greece and Cyprus about the last events."
"We consider that the reopening of Varosha which undermines mutual trust and Ministers stressed that such actions increase tensions and should be reversed," he stressed.
