Our common priority is the resumption of Cyprus talks, Greek President stresses

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has received a congratulatory message on the occasion of Cyprus' Independence Day from the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, in which the Greek President stresses that common concern and priority of both countries is the resumption of the Cyprus negotiations under the auspices of the UN Secretary General.

In her message, Sakellaropoulou notes that despite the Turkish occupation of part of Cyprus`s territory since 1974, the island, which is a member state of the United Nations and the European Union, remains firmly on the path of the most developed societies and plays a leading role in the development and deepening of tripartite and other multilateral cooperation schemes in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

She underlined that both the Republic of Cyprus and Greece, remain committed to reach
