Russia supports UNSC resolutions on Famagusta, Ambassador says
The return of Famagusta is provided by the binding resolutions of the UN Security Council, which the Russian Federation fully supports, Russian Ambassador to Nicosia told a delegation of the Municipality of Famagusta.
According to a press release by the Famagusta Municipality, a delegation of the municipality, headed by its Mayor Dr Simos Ioannou, held a meeting on Tuesday with Russian Ambassador to Nicosia, Stanislav Osadchiy, in the context of a series of contacts that the Municipality has begun with the Ambassadors of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
The press release says that the Russian Ambassador, who was informed by the delegation about Turkey`s illegal actions in Famagusta, assured the delegation that Russia remains a friend of Cyprus and respects the principles of International Law.
