Turkey cannot be tamed with worlds alone, Spokesman says
Our EU partners must realise that Turkish President Recep Tayipp Erdogan cannot be tamed with worlds alone, Government Spokesman Kyriacos Koushos has said.
In statements on the sidelines of a protest against Turkey’s moves to reopen part of the fenced-off city of Varosha, Koushos said the Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades will raise rough questions in the coming European Council.
“Has the grace period called for diplomacy yielded results? Can Turkey be tamed with words alone? Has Turkey heeded the calls of the EU Council and the president country? Our partners must realise that Mr Erdogan cannot come to its senses with pleas,” Koushos said.
