EU will contribute to efforts for resumption of Cyprus talks, Borrell tells President Anastasiades

The EU will contribute to efforts for the resumption of talks on the Cyprus problem with a view to achieve a successful outcome, the Union`s Foreign Affairs and Security Policy High Representative Josep Borrell told Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, during a telephone conversation they had on Tuesday afternoon.

Government Spokesman, Kyriakos Koushos, said in a written statement that on his part President Anastasiades raised the issue of the Turkish provocations in the fenced off city of Famagusta and noted that the unilateral provocative and illegal activities of Turkey should stop, with a view to create a conducive climate which is necessary for the continuation of the talks, aiming at a Cyprus settlement.

According to Koushos, Borrell informed Anastasiades about his telephone conversation with the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar.
