Spehar discusses Cyprus issue and Varosha with Tatar

The Cyprus issue and the situation in Varosha were among issues discussed on Thursday during a meeting between Deputy Special Adviser, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Elizabeth Spehar, with new Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar.

UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) Spokesperson Aleem Siddique told CNA that Spehar and Tatar “discussed a variety of issues including the work of UNFICYP and the Secretary General’s Good Offices Mission, the recent leaders’ meeting, the situation in Varosha and the work of the Technical Committees.”

Spehar “recalled the position of the United Nations on Varosha which remains unchanged and is guided by relevant Security Council resolutions,” Siddique said.
