UK Foreign Minister reiterates support for Varosha UN resolutions

UK`s Foreign Minister Wendy Morton has reiterated London’s concern over the illegal opening of Varosha’s beach-front and has stressed the British government’s support for the UN resolutions relating to the area.

The European Neighbourhood Minister has conveyed the British position on the matter in a letter to north London Conservative MP Theresa Villiers, who had raised the issue in correspondence to Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on behalf of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK President Christos Karaolis.

Morton’s letter states that the UK “continues to be concerned” by the opening of the beach within the fenced-off area of Varosha, as had been pre-announced by Turkish President Erdogan and Ersin Tatar.
