State of migration unsustainable, says IOM Cyprus Head and calls for respect for international law
The current situation with migration is unsustainable, says Natasa Xenophontos-Koudouna, the Head of the Office of the UN Migration Agency (IOM) in Cyprus. She notes that striking a balance between accelerated procedures to review asylum applications and upholding international law provisions is key in dealing with migratory pressures in Cyprus.
As IOM we acknowledge the significant pressure that is being put on migration and asylum systems due to the increased number of arrivals” Koudouna tells CNA.
