Orange warning by the Cyprus Meteorological Department for extreme high temperature

The Cyprus Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for extreme high temperature.

The warning is valid from 1300 locat time until 1700.

The maximum temperature is expected to rise to around 43 degrees Celsius inland and to around 34C over Troodos` highest peaks.

The public is urged to be careful as high temperatures will lead to healthrisks amongst vulnerable people, e.g. the elderly and very young.

``Listen to and act upon advice from the authorities`` , the warning says.
