Greek FM briefs Cypriot counterpart about maritime demarcation deal with Egypt

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias spoke on the phone on Friday with his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, and informed him in detail about all provisions of the Agreement on the Delimitation of Exclusive Economic Zone Greece signed on Thursday with Egypt.

Speaking to CNA, Christodoulides said that he thanked Dendias for the detailed briefing and expressed his content about this development.

“The agreement proves thoroughly and sends a message in every direction that maritime demarcation deals are concluded through negotiations, in good faith, as the international law and the Law of the Sea provide, and not through unilateral actions or thorough unlawful and legally void acts, such as the Turkey-Libya memorandum,” Christodoulides told CNA.
