Von der Leyen briefs President Anastasiades on teleconference with Erdogan
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the EU will take measures if there is no de-escalation of the tensions and an end to Turkey`s illegal actions in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to a written statement by Deputy Government Spokesman Panayiotis Sentonas, President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades held on Wednesday a telephone conversation with the President of the European Commission who briefed him on the outcome of the teleconference she held earlier with the Turkish President.
She informed President Anastasiades that she told the Turkish President that if there is no de-escalation of the tension and an end to the illegal actions on behalf of Turkey then the European Union will have to take measures.
