Cyprus National Council condemns in the strongest terms the announced Turkish actions in Varosha

Cyprus National Council has condemned in the strongest terms the announced on Tuesday Turkish actions with regard the beach of the fenced off city of Famagusta (Varosha).


The National Council which convened on Tuesday under Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, said in a unanimous decision, read out by Government Spokesman Kyriakos Koushos, that it condemned in the stongest terms the Turkish actions "which violate the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and more specifically resolutions 550 of 1984 and 789 of 1992, and calls on Turkey to revoke them and comply with these resolutions."

Koushos noted that the National Council was briefed by the President of the Republic and the political parties expressed their views, noting that the discussion focused on Turkey`s illegal actions with regard to Varosha beach area.
