Cyprus President to raise Famagusta issue during next European Council meeting, Spokesman says

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades will raise the issue of Famagusta during the next European Council meeting that will take place on October 14 and 15, Government Spokesman Kyriakos Koushos said on Wednesday, noting that a recourse has already been filed to the UN Security Council and the government is making representations to the EU institutions and is in contact with the UN Security Council five permanent members.
 
Koushos who was responding to questions by journalists about the announcements by the Turkish side with regard to the fenced off city of Famagusta reiterated that the government focuses on the process of solving the Cyprus problem, but not under threats and fait accompli, adding that decisions will be taken by the President of the Republic and the National Council.
 
Asked if Nicosia will pursue sanctions against Turkey at the European Council
