Cabinet decides start of process for deprivation of citizenship for seven people

The Council of Ministers decided on Wednesday to begin a process of deprivation of citizenship for seven persons, who had been naturalized through the Cyprus Investment Program.

Government Spokesman Kyriakos Koushos told journalists after the Cabinet meeting that the applications of those persons  were approved and they were naturalized but they concealed substantial facts or had made false representations when submitting their application.

In addition to that, he said that the Chief of Police, will conduct a search for 12 people to determine if any of them are wanted for a serious criminal offense punishable by more than five years in prison or for another serious criminal offense that involves moral depravity or an offence of dishonest nature, either in Europe through Europol, or globally through Interpol.
