Excessive Deficit Procedure: Cyprus surplus at 1.5% of GDP in 2019
Cyprus’ fiscal results for 2019, audited and verified within the Excessive Deficit Procedure framework of the European Commission, indicate a fiscal surplus of €327.0 mn, which corresponds to 1.5% of GDP.
Moreover, according to an announcement by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the results also indicate a public debt of €20,958 mn, which corresponds to 94.0% of GDP, from €21,256.3 mn in 2018.
In 2018, the General Government had recorded a budget deficit of € 742 mn or 3.5% of GDP.
GDP in 2019 amounted to € 22,286.9 mn and in 2018 to € 21,432.4
