President asks Deryneia protesters to show responsible stance as Government fears tension by Ankara

The President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiades on Saturday called on all citizens who are planning to take part in a protest tonight at Deryneia cross point to show a responsible stance as the Government has information that Ankara will make an attempt to create tension.

An event is scheduled tonight at the cross point by cizitens who want to protest the illegal opening of the fenced off town of Varosha.

In a written statement the President points out that he fully comprehends and shares the feelings of bitterness and resentment from the attitude of Turkey and the regime in the occupied areas and thus the Cyprus Government has addressed the issue to the UN Security Council and the European Council.
