In August 2020, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade rose by 4.4% in the euro area and by 3.8% in the EU, compared with July 2020, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In July 2020, the retail trade volume fell by -1.8% in the euro area and by -1.2% in the EU. In August 2020 compared with August 2019, the calendar adjusted retail sales index increased by 3.7% in the euro area and by 3.5% in the EU.
