UK Foreign Minister reiterates support for Cyprus reunification

The British Foreign Minister for the European Neighbourhood Wendy Morton has said that the UK continues to support a just and lasting settlement to reunite Cyprus and that the internationally accepted model of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation is the best way to achieve this goal.

She was responding to a letter sent to Foreign Secretary Raab by a group of seven Conservative MPs, headed by Theresa Villiers.

A  reunited Cyprus “would unlock significant economic benefits through increased opportunities for trade, investment, and tourism, and open up the possibility of new energy and economic partnerships in the region,” Morton’s letter reads.
